Compatibility with browsers and assistive technology
The Competition Hive is designed to be compatible with the following assistive technologies:
-
Full keyboard navigation – Every element (buttons, forms, menus, etc.) can be operated via keyboard alone (Tab, Enter, Shift‑Tab)
-
Automatic DOM order – Content structure in the code aligns with visual layout, crucial for screen readers and logical navigation
-
Smart focus ring & "Skip to Content" link – Keyboard users get clearly visible focus indicators and can jump directly to main content
The Competition Hive is not compatible with:
-
1. Outdated Web Browsers Internet Explorer (especially IE11 and below) No longer supported by Wix; issues with JavaScript, CSS rendering, and accessibility features. Old versions of Safari (< v12), Chrome (< v70), or Firefox (< v60) May lack support for modern HTML5, ARIA roles, and keyboard navigation improvements.
-
2. Legacy Operating Systems Windows XP / Vista / 7 (without latest updates) Often cannot run current versions of browsers or screen readers. macOS versions older than 10.13 (High Sierra) May not support updated Safari or VoiceOver accessibility improvements. Old Android versions (< Android 8.0) and iOS versions (< iOS 11) Accessibility APIs and browser compatibility are limited.
-
3. Unsupported Assistive Technologies Jaws or NVDA on Internet Explorer This was a common combo, but IE’s outdated rendering engine limits support. Old versions of VoiceOver (pre-macOS Mojave) Can misinterpret some ARIA roles or modern navigation patterns. Screen readers or accessibility tools not updated regularly May fail to parse updated HTML5 or dynamic content from Wix apps.
